CAL 2025
Maytime
This is my new CAL. I dedicated the design of ‘Maytime’ to my own garden, inspired by my new backyard, which has now transformed into a thriving vegetable garden. Flowers have always symbolized happiness for me, but now, plants also represent nourishment—double happiness! You can read all about the story behind this blanket in the Introduction of ‘Maytime.’
Thanks to our great Haaksteek Team, ‘Maytime’ is going to be published in no less than 11 different languages! The names of our wonderful group of translators and testers can also be found in the Introduction – I would be lost without them.
There will be a video for each part as well, made by our expert, Tania Leis.
Besides releasing the CAL on my Haaksteek Website, there is another wonderful new thing! Doris van der Waals owner of the webshop Haakhuis, will offer kits for ‘Maytime’.

Kit Iman
While designing Maytime, I used Scheepjes Colour Crafter in six different colors. Each color is assigned a letter, which will be used as a reference throughout the pattern. Of course, you are free to create your own color palette and choose any yarn you prefer!
Kit Heidrun
Heidrun used seven stunning colors of high-quality cotton yarn. This kit may not be the most budget-friendly, as it features the exclusive Scheepjes Organicon yarn—but every penny is worth it! Just look at these vibrant shades—signature Heidrun colors. Try not to smile while admiring them… impossible, right? Happy colors, happy garden!
Kit Mirjam
Mirjam’s Garden is also made with Scheepjes Colour Crafter, but she chose no fewer than nine different colors for her design. At first, her rich shades reminded me of Monet’s paintings. But once I saw her first sections, I realized her vision was entirely her own! Her Maytime is bold, vibrant, and striking—nothing like Monet or any other romantic artwork!
Kit Tania
Tania’s Garden also called for Scheepjes Colour Crafter, and she chose to follow my original color order—sometimes, life is simple, lol! Yet, her colors feel entirely different. When I see them, words like wise, sensible, and classic come to mind. Hmm… that might just be a perfect reflection of who Tania is!
